much ado about nothing
Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan reimagines Much Ado About Nothing as a pirate adventure set on the island of Messina. Captain Don Pedro and his swashbuckling crew arrive seeking treasure, but young Claudio falls for Hero, the leader's daughter, while the sharp-tongued Benedick and Beatrice trade cutting insults that mask deeper feelings. The villainous Don Jon threatens to wreck it all with lies and betrayal, but love finds a way even on the high seas. The production runs three hours with an intermission, features staged combat and theatrical effects, and includes flashing lights, loud noises, and mature themes.
