much ado about nothing
Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan reimagines "Much Ado About Nothing" as a high-seas adventure, setting the classic love story on the island of Messina, a pirate stronghold. Captain Don Pedro and his swashbuckling crew arrive to celebrate their latest treasure, and chaos ensues when young Claudio falls for Hero, the leader's daughter, while the sharp-witted Benedick and Beatrice trade cutting insults that spark an unexpected romance. The villainous Don Jon threatens to wreck it all with lies and betrayal, but heart wins out in this comedic tale of lovers who can't outwit their own feelings.
The production runs three hours and includes flashing lights, sudden loud noises, theatrical haze, staged combat, and mature themes. Full content advisories are posted on the venue website.
