Saskatchewan Railway Museum
an open-air heritage rail yard west of the city, where the trains sit out under the prairie sky. wander among restored locomotives and cabooses, step inside a working station building, and on summer weekends catch a short demonstration ride down the track. it is hands-on in a way most museums are not, and a sure hit with kids who love anything big and mechanical. the season runs through the warmer months, so check the schedule before you drive out. an easy, unhurried half-day outing.
