a student-run live music venue in the University of Saskatchewan memorial union, long a launch pad for touring indie and Canadian acts coming through town. the campus crowd keeps the energy up, and the long-running Thursday night tradition pre-dates most of the rest of the scene. tickets tend to be reasonable, and you can catch bands here before they outgrow rooms this size. you do not have to be a student to go. check the campus calendar for show nights and who is playing.
the first year-round public market in the province, housed in the historic farmers market building in Riversdale. inside you will find local food, drink, fresh grocery, prepared meals, and makers selling under one roof, open through every season. from May into September an outdoor farmers market spills out two days a week with produce and growers. it is a good place to graze, pick up something to take home, and see local makers in person. come hungry and leave with bags.
