discovery cinema: bookworm
An eleven-year-old girl named Mildred finds her world upended when her estranged father, a magician from America, arrives to care for her while her mother recovers in the hospital. To lift her spirits, he takes her on a camping trip through New Zealand's rugged wilderness to hunt for a legendary creature called the Canterbury Panther. This is part of Discovery Cinema, a Saturday matinee series at Remai Modern that shows international films celebrating new experiences, friendship, and personal growth.
The film runs 96 minutes and is directed by Ant Timpson. It contains mild coarse language and some violence, and is recommended for ages 10 and up. Members and anyone under 18 get in free, and general admission is ten dollars. Everyone checks in at the front desk to pick up an admission token.
