storytime with united for literacy

A two-hour storytime session in the North Woods area where families hear two children's books read aloud, then do crafts and colouring inspired by the stories. The first book is Chaiwala by Priti Birla Maheshwari, about a girl buying spiced tea at a train station in India. The second is Malaika's Costume by Nadia Hohn, where a girl and her grandmother turn fabric scraps into a parade outfit, which pairs with the Toon Town Tailor Shop craft station at the hub. Every family takes home a free book, and United for Literacy will have a booth there to chat about family literacy and reading at home. The session runs August 11, and a second date is also available on August 18.
